The Maitland Mercury has been part of the Maitland community and Lower Hunter region since 1843. It is the second-oldest newspaper in NSW, outside the Sydney Morning Herald, and the oldest regional newspaper on the mainland.
The Mercury’s team, which includes award-winning writers and photographers, has launched itself into the digital space and in 2015 won the coveted Pacific Area Newspapers Association Best News Website award, with online year-on-year growth of more than 102 per cent.
The team also took out all five major categories at the 2015 NSW Country Press Awards, including the prized E C Sommerlad Memorial Award for Journalism.
The Maitland Mercury is a dynamic and vibrant media operation committed to
delivering news, information and entertainment across multiple platforms – in print, online, and throughout social media.
The Maitland Mercury includes Domain, the Lower Hunter’s No. 1 real estate and property supplement; Hunter Valley & North Coast Town & Country, a fortnightly round-up of rural news; a daily TV guide; reader giveaways; lifestyle and entertainment liftouts; classifieds and, of course, the latest in local news and sport coverage.
