Based in Brisbane since 1985, The Media Workshop team’s collective experience includes media sales, media agency strategy, planning and buying, newspaper site administration, training and system implementation.
Originally the company was established by Claude Olive, as Claude Olive Media twenty some years ago and subsequently bought by Peter Scruby. The company built its reputation on being the ‘champions’ of regional media, primarily providing a service to the advertising agencies in Queensland.
In 2000 the company was bought by John McDonald who had previously held the position of Sales Manager for many years. After purchasing the company John invited Jaye Coley to return to The Media Workshop, where she managed Sales and Business Development, and their combined leadership ensured that the business continued to grow from strength to strength.
In 2010 Jaye became Managing Director of The Media Workshop after progressing through the company as a Sales Executive, Sales Manager and General Manager. Jaye’s extensive experience in media sales coupled with her long established relationships in the Brisbane advertising industry provides the strong foundation to lead the team. To cap off her first year as Managing Director she is immensely proud of her team’s achievement, winning the Fairfax Media Award as National Sales Team for 2010/11.
Jaye’s media career commenced in 1994 as a Sales Executive with The Media Workshop, working across the Rural Press newspaper stable, the Qantas inflight magazines, several Travel industry publications and the QUT student magazine.
Seeking a broader experience in the media industry she then joined the team at Universal McCann as a media planner and buyer, working on accounts including Brisbane City Council, Betta Stores, Michael Hill Jewellers, RACQ and numerous metropolitan Property Developments. Her proudest accomplishment was successfully planning and executing the inaugural Brisbane River Festival campaign.
Following her love for regional newspapers she returned to The Media Workshop in 2001 to take on the role of Sales and Business Development Manager. After many rewarding years growing the portfolio and fostering valuable industry relationships Jaye proudly took the helm as Managing Director in 2010. Jaye’s strong belief in the role of newspapers and her passion for digital brings an exciting challenge, to mix traditional and emerging media to develop outstanding solutions for her media partners and clients.
